Crafty Crafterson…..is baaaack.

Here’s my latest invention….  Damn you, Pinterest.  I got the idea and inspiration from the site The Crafted Sparrow .  This Heart Wreath uses the very easy technique of making Pom Pom flowers (which I have mastered)…..a glue gun (I think I need a hotter one, but those ones really hurt BAD!) and a piece of cardboard cut into the heart shape.  Me being so ingenious…used the top non-greasy side(ok, there was a little grease) of my Dominos cardboard pizza box from dinner the nite before…now tell me that’s not being green and using my resources wisely!!!!   I do like how it turned out, don’t you? I have  not yet decided on its final hanging place…because I just can’t take down my snowflake wreath on my door just yet…being that it is January 31st, and it was like 40 degrees out there today….we may just get winter in April!  You never know what you are gonna get living in Wisconsin!

Fun with Food!

Oh what memories I brought back when I decided to make homemade play dough!  The smell, especially reminded me of my childhood.  Homemade playdough has a smell unlike store bought Playdoh and you could actually eat it if one felt the urge to do so.  If that’s the case, maybe I can find you a recipe for homemade glue too! This is the recipe I used. 1 cup flour 1 cup H20 1/4 cup salt 2 tsp cream of tarter 1 tsp oil and food coloring of your choice. Mix together the above and heat over medium heat until it comes together.  Dump out onto wax paper or something and knead it together for a bit.  Let it cool.   Or give it to the kids hot….. I personally like playing with it hot, but I like things hot….and this makes a super soft, pliable dough. Jenna giving the little girl a dough cut, when she badly needs a hair cut herself!!!

Busy little bee….that’s me!

This here is a picture of the 2 bird feeders the girls made (only 1 in the picture).  You take a toilet paper roll, cover it with PB and then cover it with bird seed…then slip it onto the tree branch.  The birds loved it…had 2 cardinals on it this morning!  So cool to see.  One thing I love to see in winter is all the birds eating the seeds off of the snow on the ground.  Such a nice contrast, you can really make out all the different kinds of  birds there are!  Funny thing is that when I came back in that nite from putting out these feeders….there is Jadyn and Jenna eating PB….and the occasional bird seed as well.  Jadyn was attempting to spit out the seeds, Jenna just ate it all!  Jadyn looked up at me and had 2 pieces of seed stuck to the side of her mouth!!  I know…you would think I didn’t feed my kids!! Now here are my 2 attempts at felt flower making….the one kind (the pom pom looking ones was super easy.)  Jenna wore this headband all day yesterday and got lots of compliments!!

Ixonia

Image
Ixonia, 1947 I recently did a search on Ixonia and BlogSpot(I know you are supposed to Google yourself) …maybe just to see if there were also any bloggers(well I try…I am off to a good start for 2012)  from my area….Ixonia.  This is one interesting tidbit I found and thought I would share with you from: http://lettersinbottles.blogspot.com/2010/08/making-ixonia.html Making Ixonia Posted by Brad V at 11:20 AM "When it was decided to divide the town of Union, there was no argument over calling Town 7, Concord, but there was a great divergence of opinions as to what to call Town 8.  To satisfy all factions, it was agreed to put the letters of the alphabet on slips of paper and have young Mary Piper draw them until a word was formed that could be used as the town name. The result was Ixonia. This is the only town of that name in the United States. It was established as a town in the year 1846." Via The Romance of Wisconsin Placenames I had heard this story about the to

Crafty Crafterson, will you be my Valentine?

Once again, my friend Becky (and pinterest)…introduced me to subway art.  I downloaded it free from www.eighteen25.blogspot.com .  I ordered the prints via Walgreens at 60% off…score!  Got 50+ photos (6 of them 8x10) for like $10! Also saw this cute and easy (easy is the key for me) framed letters also on the same site as above.  This was the first time I had ever worked with glitter…it went fine….  I had planned on doing this craft with my girls, but they didn’t seem too interested, instead they left me alone and went outside to play in the snow!  (Big J went ice fishing…so I was all alone…other then the occasional look outside to find out what the girls were up to!) Finally, I added this kick-ass photo….that I took about 2 years ago (?)  I was at Perc Place in Hartford (if some of you don’t remember it is the place I had my wedding shower at) and this was how I received my vanilla latte.  Too cool…took a picture…turned out great and have had it framed in my kitchen since t

Pinterest…..hmmm….

I like many, have become addicted to this new site.  I am becoming a crafty crafterson!  Getting ideas and inspiration from the many great ideas people in this world are sharing with us all.  Food too, lots of yummy looking pictures and recipes.  Made the enchilada pasta, that Becky posted awhile back about.  It was delish…leftovers were too.  (something I don’t always like!)  Made the snowflake wreath, once again from Becky.  I have plans to do a family handprint and a snowman handprint ornament sometime soon.  I like the fact that you can pin these ideas to different boards.  For example a ‘Christmas’  board is where I pin all the Christmas ideas I like and then sometime in 2012…probably November…I can view these ideas and see if I want to make any of these things I had once pinned.  Like the starlight mint plates or starlight mint wreath.  It makes my life a little bit more organized in a way I guess, because instead of having to print the directions or whatever and have them sit ar

Snoozies!

Image
The Quandt girls all got new slippers called Snoozies this winter!  The girls both got theirs as gifts from Aunt Nicole and Uncle Jim.  I picked mine up after from the local Hallmark store.  I did purchase 2 pairs as gift to the girls Godmothers, Shelly and Stacy.  At that time I did not realize how very nice they are. The ones we bought for Shelly and Stacy are not furry looking like ours are.  I so wanted to have monster feet like the girls do!  I absolutely love them.  Not too hot, very soft, wash well.  Actually, I wish I had them on right now!

Snowflake Wreath

Yes, I liked Becky's snowflake wreath and I felt compelled to make one of my own.  Its a little different, but I like how it turned out!  Am I becoming crafty in 2012?!?!?  I kinda feel like my Aunt Frannie...for those who know who I am talking about....please please please let me know if my house starts to smell like moth balls!!!
