More tasty treats coming from my kitchen!
I don't know about you, but I have always wanted to make cinnamon rolls. Haven't you too??? No?
Well the other day my Mom sent me an email with a recipe that was supposed to be as good as a certain cinnamon roll maker we all have seen in at the mall, and most of us, I am guessing have tried at least once before. I mentioned to her that I had always wanted to try making cinnamon rolls, but it seemed like a daunting task. One I was not sure I was up to tackling. (at least by myself...my kids don't count...they usually make anything I want to do in the kitchen a little bit harder...but still I like to include them anytime I bake - Jadyn is an egg-cellant egg cracker!) I collected all of the ingredients I needed for the recipe and the 4 of us made cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting! Let me tell you - they were delish and pretty darn easy - for cinnamon rolls. How could that be, you ask? Well the dough is made using a bread maker. Yup that good (old ) bread maker I won from Target when I was 16, comes in handy once again!
Ready to bake! They smelled fabulous while baking!
Clone of a Cinnabon
adapted from: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Clone-of-a-Cinnabon/
Ingredients:
Dough
1 cup warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 eggs, room temperature
1/3 cup margarine, melted
4 1/2 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup white sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
Filling
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter, softened
Frosting
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle; press Start.
2. After the dough has doubled in size turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, cover and let rest for 10 minutes. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
3. Roll dough into a 16x21 inch rectangle. Spread dough with 1/3 cup butter and sprinkle evenly with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Roll up dough and cut into 12 rolls. Place rolls in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
4. Bake rolls in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes. While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Spread frosting on warm rolls before serving
My adaption is as follows - Next time I would bake the rolls in 2 pans..maybe 6 rolls each. I had a few rolls in the middle of my 9x13 pan that were a little to doughy for me (rawish - good if you like that kind of thing)
Yum! I should dust off my breadmaker and try them!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I don't have a bread machine, but maybe I can do it by hand?!?! I've made other doughs by hand. They look wonderful, I wish your picture was scratch & sniff :)
